Introduction to the Era Franz Kafka lived at the end of 19 th – beginning of 20 th century in Prague, the capital of the Bohemian kingdom under Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The early years of the 20 th century were marked by the unsuccessful Russian Revolution of 1905, turmoil of the Balkan Wars (1912, 1913) and the First World War. Vorbemerkungen Bei der Frankfurter Buchmesse Oktober 2006 war Indien das Gastland. Anlässlich dieser erhob sich die Frage nach der Rezeption indischer Gegenwartsliteratur in deutscher Sprache. Welche indische Literatur erschien zu dieser Zeit in deutscher Übersetzung? Wie groß ist die Nachfrage nach dieser Literatur? Wieweit werden indische Autoren als postmodenrne oder postkoloniale Autoren gelesen? Diese Abhandlung setzt sich u.a. mit diesen Fragen auseinander.
